January 28, 2014 - A commenter pointed out last week's March for Life only had 25,000 people in attendance, which hardly makes this seem like the winning issue some politicians want it to be, and the significant drop off between this year and last indicates a certain lack of passion among many who claim it's an important issue. Furthermore I failed to address Rand Paul's comments that half of law and medical students are female, which I think is untrue (though half of undergrads are female), and doesn't mean this is translating to jobs, which is another thing Democrats tend to be better acknowledging.

I actually wanted to talk today about the pregnant woman in Texas who was finally taken off life support. This decision seems to be based more on the fetus no longer looking viable than out of respect for her wishes, but still raises important questions about the state interfering with a woman and her family's personal desires as well as the importance of acknowledging that important tests to determine the viability of fetuses are not available until rather late in a pregnancy. Most pregnancies terminated at that time are also usually out of concerns of viability, and yet Texas politicians continue to try to shrink this window for reasons that seem to reflect a poor understanding of the situation.

Anyway, sorry, Philip looks so weird in panel 2.
