Trigger Warning: Upcoming comics deal with the issue of rape. And the first paragraph of the blog will be addressing concerns about that for some time.

July 1, 2013 - As stated above, many of the upcoming comics will deal with storylines regarding rape. I'm going to try my best to make note of any comics specifically in the archive (and I possibly should go back and amend some pages to include trigger warnings), but in the interest of sensitivity towards survivors of such assaults who may find the depiction of such situations to trigger memories of the traumatic events they've experienced in tandem with an effort to limit spoilers about which comics specifically will deal with rape, I've decided to put up a trigger warning at the top of the main page for the foreseeable future until this storyline concludes, not that victims of such crimes ever get such solace or resolution from their own circumstances. Even after this upcoming storyline is over elements of it will be revisited and I'll try to give fair warning a few days to a week in advance whenever that occurs. I hate that the wonderful world we live in can have such horribleness, but I think it's important to face such circumstances in an effort to bring about discussion about how to change our planet for the better and prevent further crimes. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully, for understanding.

The above paragraph will probably be there for the next month or two as well as the trigger warning at the top of the page (but you get a handy link to jump straight to the blog if you want by clicking the word blog and simply add "#comic" to the end of any page's URL extention to jump straight to the comic).

Today's comic does feature statutory rape considering the stated age of Aaron and the implied age of Star's mentee. It'd probably be interesting to actually get Aaron's point of view on the events, but I don't think he feels victimized by the situation (though there are definitely victims of statutory rape who do feel victimized). This comic isn't really the comic the trigger warning is referring to, but it does bring to light issues of statutory rape I probably shouldn't ignore, particularly the common perception that such an assault is far less severe when perpetrated by an older female towards a younger male, with some media suggesting such relationships are even desireable. If the gender's are flipped Panel 5 almost becomes predatory (though this is Star's recollection of events, so I should probably stress she's more than likely an unreliable narrator at least regarding some of the details). But to a certain extent I think one could argue that even then there are media examples overly tolerant of such actions. For example rewatch Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indiana Jones may be one of the most well-known protagonists in cinema history, he's also a child rapist. The subtext of the film clearly states he had an inappropriate relationship with Marion when she was not of age and he was which caused the rift between Dr. Jones and Marion's father, what's worse is that by the conclusion of the film Marion both forgives him and later marries him in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull making the relationship between Indy and Marion hardly the feel-good romance it's portrayed to be.

Regarding an example that isn't over 30 years old. Vanderbilt University is adding its name to the list of schools with sexual assault problems. More details about this case will probably become clear in the coming weeks.
