October 24, 2012 - I realize Hennifer's analogy doesn't quite work (and interestingly she's arguing that farmers are trying to control her reproductive rights so that she doesn't produce offspring), but I think the jist of it makes sense. In general I don't condone hitchhiking and discussing politics with strangers could probably be handled a little more delicately than Hennifer's approach. I don't want to diminish the importance of discussing social issues, but an important part of discussing a belief is listening to the other people in the discussion. It's important to determine what elements others may be sensitive about and to respect those opinions rather than immediately offend them with an extreme example or by being inflexible about giving them time to process the information presented.

Also a candidate for Indiana senate made an alarmingly insensitive comment regarding pregnancies caused by rape (yeah, huffington post link, sorry), and a high school in California seems to have an environment of pretty horrible and misogynistic behavior going on. I'll let these articles speak for themselves for now.
