Febrary 14, 2017 - So... a lot's changed since I last posted...

First the business of the comic. This storyline is finally completely written and I'm going to try to post a comic a week for the foreseeable future, with the possibility of accelerating that pace depending on how things go. There are a lot of things beyond simply posting the comic from drawing up new advertising to site maintennance that need to be addressed, and until that time I really don't think posting more than a comic a week is a good idea. Furthermore, aiming for a Tuesday was a mistake. So I think I'll shoot for Thursday moving forward, but it may move to Friday or even Saturday depending on how things go.

Then there's the current political situation in the US and actually in a lot of other countries as well. As you've hopefully been aware various legislation has cropped up threatening access to women's healthcare and really healthcare in general. I remain confident in the long term that people will understand the importance of these issues, but in the short term it's pretty scary and frustrating. But all I can really offer is an observation that four years ago Audi aired this ad during the Superbowl which was slammed by feminist critics and myself. This year they ran this ad. Is the new ad perfect? No. But it does signal an effort to become more progressive either in reaction to that prior criticism or because maybe feminism is more marketable than mysogyny. Either way, it took four years to get there though, which is a timeframe with an interesting parallel. It is where Audi has landed itself, so maybe as long as critics remain vocal it won't just be Audi.
