June 19, 2014 - Finally saw Obvious Child. Meh. While the characters ultimately end up here they kind of need to be and the film makes all the points it should, it kinda lacks a certain amount of direction as if the actors were just given the basics of a scene and improvized all the dialogue. Only the sequence of waiting for the pregnancy test felt particularly creative, making it both the best scene and kind of glaringly out of place. But maybe I'm just nitpicking because I wanted it to be so much better than it was and had the misfortune of being in a theater with people who didn't understand that unlike watching a movie in your living room, having a conversation in a movie theater is generally rude and distracting (and why most people now prefer watching things in living rooms).
