April 2, 2014 - Today marks the two year anniversary of
With Fetus despite the fact less than half that time has transpired in the comic. The idea has always been to conclude the pregnancy arc with the completion of the first set of stories Emily and I came up with. Initially we had 13 ideas which have expanded to 15 ideas and if you've been keeping track the current storyline is number 13. So at some point in mid to late summer, the original storylines will be exhausted. At this point I'm strongly considering going on hiatis for a bit to work out the next post-pregnancy storylines (of which I already have severl ideas) and hopefully build a bit of a buffer as the buffer basically evaporated in November and has never recovered, without this buffer the writing has suffered somewhat as a result, in my opinion, especially at the beginning of storylines (I will say I'm happy with where this storyline ends now that it's finally written).
During the hiatis I want to try to get up at least one side project, but it's barely half written and no where near where I want it to be so its looking doubtful I'll be able to produce it the way I want. I'll try to go on hiatis with a planned come back date, and the overall idea for the comic has been to produce six volumes (I have a very specific idea for how I want the comic to end, but it may change cuz anyone who watched
How I Met Your Mother's finale probably knows rigidly sticking to one idea for too long can be a bad thing) before concluding. But that's probably at least 10 years from now, I just wanted to say something now, cuz to have done this regularly for two years feels like a major accomplishment to me and I'm optimistic about continuing work on this moving forward.
Thanks so much to everyone reading.
