January 23, 2014 - Yesterday was the 41st anniversary of the passage of Roe v. Wade. As such there were a ton of protests and articles summarizing the current state of the abortion debate. I think this New York Times piece sums it up the best, showing that a lot of legislation has been pushed through, but most of the Republican politicians who take up the issue as central to their campaign are quickly met with defeat with the stage set for North Carolina to potentially become a blue state as a result.

None of this is really new though. Instead I stated this storyline discussing how toys have increasingly prescribed to dangerously gendered stereotypes and the Huffington Post ran a series of images last weekend showing disturbing changes in how toys are marketed to girls over the past couple decades. It's hard to pick what bothers me the most, but I kinda lean towards the cabbage patch kids now wearing mascara.
