November 20, 2013 - Early votes seem to oppose the abortion ban in Albuquerque, but it's still too early to tell. Hopefully this ends in defeat dicouraging such tactics in the future.

Meanwhile in Texas, the supreme court will not be blocking Texas' restrictive abortion laws forcing clinics to close, so this issue will go to the next level at the beginning of January, unnecessarily causing women to suffer for something that appears clearly unconstitutional to me. In the long run this may work out to stop the increasing backlash against abortion with more definitive supreme court rulings preventing such harmful tactics, but in the short term women are obviously going to suffer. As today's comic illustrates restricting abortion may drive women to less safe extremes rather than making her not have an abortion, making one question what exactly does restricting access accomplish.
