June 12, 2013 - Really wish I'd built a buffer before my trip. Still kinda flailing, hence the lack of people in panel 4.
Anyway, I didn't really want to comment on everything going on with E3, but then
this happened. Video game culture has a huge problem with female representation and women in general as evidenced by everything
Anita Sarkeesian went through who even posted 50 reponses to her twitter account reacting harshly to her observation that none of xbox's launch titles feature female protagonists, many of which are pretty vile, and this doesn't help. I think the Xbox One is pretty dead in the water by pandering to its fans rather than genuinely interacting with them and offering a console that ignores its competition and wide variety of ways people play games. Honestly I hate online play and buy almost all my games used, XBox isn't allowing for either of these features and is kinda losing me as a customer which is a shame considering how much I've invested into 360. But mostly I'm just kinda bummed I probably won't get to play Dead Rising 3 as the original is what I bought the system for (despite its massive problems with some of the ways it depicts women most of which are magnified in the sequel I didn't buy or play cuz the sequel did a lot of things wrong in my opinion, still the threequel looks sweet so far). Still it's kinda interesting to see a system potentially flop harder than Dreamcast.
