March 20, 2013 - Okay, after everything in yesterday's blog post, I actually think the New York Times coverage of Steubenville is pretty decent. It reports facts rather than obviously taking a side and ends with the disturbing note that one of the rapists at least in part felt he was doing something to the victim's benefit, which encapsulates pretty much all of the cultural problems presented by the case which I alluded to yesterday. Such problems are the core of stories like this and this (I must make note of a trigger warning for this second story).

Meanwhile, trying not to be outdone by Arkansas, North Dakota introduced it's own ridiculous regulations that I'll be shocked if they actually become law. And on the other side of the debate new details keep emerging about Kermit Gosnell. If less stigma persisted around abortion women wouldn't need to deal with someone as unethical as Dr. Gosnell, they could find more ethical doctors instead. But a discussion about ethics is probably better to wait for with specific comics in the upcoming storyline.
