March 5, 2013 - I totally forgot to mention yesterday that the fact the waiter Sophie had sex with was female possibly influenced her attitude regarding contraception. This is not to say that though homosexual intercourse between two women is without risk. Though obviously Sophie could not have become pregnant, sexually transmitting infections and diseases are still a possibility, and it's usually best to try to be able to discuss such risks with any partner and looking into taking precautions to avoid harmful repercussions.

Erika Moen's Girlfuck describes some of these ideas way better than I probably could, particularly page 16. Fair warning, this is rather not safe for work (though I never really understand the nsfw term as I don't really see a comic set in an abortion clinic to really be the most appropriate thing to look at in the workplace even when there isn't any nudity).

That should conclude the commentary for today's comic, but a couple interesting news articles were brought to my attention that I thought I'd mention.

First up, this is a month old but it breaks down a law that was on the books for 200 years so might as well mention it, women are finally allowed to legally wear pants in the workplace in France. This law's basically been ignored in more recent times, but it's pretty horrifying to consider such a law existed especially as recently as last year. What's more interesting is how it relates to a recent survey just published showing that politicians, both conservatives and democrats believe their constituents to be more conservative than they actually are. One would think that liberals would assume constituents to be more liberal and conservatives more conservative and then everything meets in the middle, but in fact both sides have a perception that those they govern are more conservative than reality, making liberal laws (such as allowing women to wear pants) more difficult to pass. It also may explain why liberal politicians did so well in the presidential and senate elections as their view of their constituents (though still too conservative) is closer to what constituents want than conservative politician's perceptions.

Lastly, as I'm kinda aware based on what I've seen advertised by them, Amazon has no quality control, allowing offensive shirts to be purchased through their website. I doubt many (if any) shirts were sold and I understand writing a program that randomly pairs verbs with pronouns, but why would "rape" and "grope" be on such a list of verbs? I also can't understand why you wouldn't have someone reading all the slogans that came up to see how they could be interpreted or if they even made sense at all.

Okay, now, that's it until I realize I had more to say about this comic and have another super long blog post tomorrow.
