March 1, 2013 - Probably one of my less successful attempts with the new approach to drawing backgrounds. Still mostly works though. Plus I did
this comic about masturbating for
Sexy Self Comics Day, cuz masturbating is awesome.
Also, I guess I should clarify my statement yesterday about people paying for sex better suited to seek therapy. It's not that this applies in all cases, but it seems to me like it would apply in such a significantly high number of cases that an argument for psychological assessment before proceding towards the business transaction should probably be made before moving forward (and such evaluation rarely if ever occurs in what limited knowledge on the subject I have -- heck, she's a therapist in
The Sessions and such ideas of talking about emotions are barely talked about, certainly not before anything occurs, though it is a movie.
The original article the film was based on is a bit more informative and much more ambiguous about the situation (at least in terms of the feelings Mark O'Brien experienced. Meanwhile Cheryl Cohen-Greene herself has a
book out I have not read, but she conducted
this interview following the release of the film which is kinda cool)). The point I'm trying to make is that my intention wasn't to outright condemn the practice, but question the background of the parties involved in the exchange. Prostitution is an extremely complex issue with a lot of of gray area involved in it, which is ultimately what fascinates me about it as I feel abortion has a lot of similarities in terms of complexity. And too often people rush to "yay" or "nay" stances that seem to ignore such complexity.
Also also, one of my big goals for the month of February was to redesign the site. I obviously didn't
quite make it BUT I've actually finished most of the design just need to plug in the last few bits of data. So you can expect a whole new look to the webpage come Monday. Hope you enjoy it.
