October 10, 2012 - Ugh, I was so happy to have nothing to say today, and then Romney went and said this, that abortion legislation isn't part of his agenda. My feeling isn't that Romney is flat out lying but he's making a gross exaggeration of the truth. Romney has a background in leadership involving a state with a very liberal position on abortion. While there he didn't do anything about the issue. He doesn't care about abortion, which isn't a great opinion to have, but it's certainly better than making an uninformed argument against it. I get the impression he doesn't want to look at this issue at all, he'd rather other people fight over it and side with the majority, and whether that means a bipartisan majority or republican majority is very debatable. He hasn't said a lot. He hasn't made many decisions. His running mate selection makes me nervous as Ryan already called rape a "method of conception" which implies that he thinks all sexual behavior, including rape, occurs exclusively with intent from both parties to produce children, which is fundamentally untrue and a dangerous opinion to hold. Though superficially Romney's comment should be encouraging, I'm extremely skeptical of his honesty on the matter.
