September 7, 2012 - Ugh, so I'd hoped that that project I'd alluded to earlier this week would be good to go today, but it's looking like Friday or possibly later. As such I'm just bumping that comic to at least Monday to be safe (though it may go up elsewhere over the weekend) and then starting next storyline early (on Friday) in addition shifting some of the updates around accordingly.

In my opinion, the comic above works much better after the comic I wanted to put up today, but there's no real reason it can't go up now. Ultimately I've always felt it's a little weird to be a male feminist as there are factions of feminist movements that have a habit of discriminating against men. For example from my perspective the term "feminist ally" is particularly discriminatory as it implies that there's a gray area regarding feminism which I just don't see when you look at the definition of a feminist (I also have problems with the word feminist as I discussed in another post, but feminist ally is a way worse term in my opinion). The definition of a feminist is someone who believes men and women should be treated equally. Where's the middle ground? Either you are a feminist or you aren't. There's no women and men should sort of be treated equally, so what's this "ally" bullshit? The civil rights and gay rights movements are not exclusive about whatever ethnic and sexual identities join their movements and gender rights shouldn't be any different. If things are to be equal, men need to be just involved in the change as women.

Also I hate some of the language that indicates it's not okay to be open about one's sexuality or adherence to gender stereotypes. Having the confidence to say "I'm gay" is awesome as is the ability to buck gender stereotypes and be feminine if you're male or masculine if you're female. I don't see why society has to constantly reinforce these ideas as negative when I think an honesty with oneself should never be seen as anything but a positive. But I suppose everyone's entitled to his or her own opinion, the trick is not letting people who disagree with you get you down.
