April 23, 2012 - Ick, this art is ugly. Whatever.

I allude to Star's sexuality on the cast page, and I plan to explore it a bit more in depth in the future, but for now you'll have to wait.

On a personal I feel the portrayal of gay characters in popular media has greatly improved over the last couple decades, but the portrayal of other non-heterosexual sexual identities is pretty poor. Most of these characters quickly become identified only by their sexuality and tend to do nothing but have a lot of sex (not that that's necessarily a bad thing :-P) or sit in the background occassionally having a line that reminds you they're bisexual (and they're in the scene). My goal with Star is to show a much more multi-faceted bisexual character who's neither a champion of bisexual representation nor is she a worthless example of tokenism. As I've stated I got reactions to her that suggest she'll be extremely unpopular, but I don't think she needs to be a saint. My intention with her is to show a person, not a sex-crazed nymphomaniac who sleeps with anybody and everybody nor a bisexual in name only who claims to be bisexual yet only ever shows romantic interest in the opposite gender. I could say more, but I don't want to go into spoilers, so you'll just have to wait and see what happens.
