April 9, 2012 - This comic continues with the theme of portraying Patience as someone who came into this situation by not giving much thought to her actions, but also points out the double standard facing men and women in the same situation. Most of the rhetoric places the responsibility on women, encouraging them to use birth control and not get pregnant. I don't see much reason why men aren't told to likewise make sure to use birth control and don't get someone pregnant (notice the slight changes in wording). It takes two people to make a baby, and Patience's situation could easily be avoided if either person involved had taken responsibility. Yet most anti-abortion arguments only talk about the woman's responsibility while paying little to no attention on holding fathers accountable for their actions or even acknowledging their equal contribution to the situation. Biologically a man may not have the same involvement as a woman in a pregnancy but most arguments against involve moral and ethical grounds. I don't see how a man's involvement differs morally or ethically in any way from a woman's involvement in a pregnancy.
